Unscheduled IPs Issues Will be discussed in NFDIN
The issue of unscheduled indigenous peoples will be discussed in the Governing Council of National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities (NFDIN) within 17th Oct. 2007. This agreement has been made between a Dialogue Team of the representatives of unscheduled Indigenous Peoples and the representatives of NFDIN held on 26th Sept.2007 in the premises of NFDIN, Sanchal, Lalitpur.
NFDIN was ignoring the issues of recognition of the unscheduled IPs even they had all the characteristics as defined by the NFDIN Act. The NFDIN came into dialogue only after conducted a Locked Up in NFDIN by the several IPs demanding for their recognition in the schedule-1 to represent in the upcoming Constituent Assembly. The Locked Up programme was a follow-up programme of their Dharna Programme held on 21st Sept. 2007 jointly organized by the Federation of Indigenous Kirat Associations (FIKA) and Joint Struggle Committee of the Indigenous Peoples deprived from the identities for representing in the Constituent Assembly.
In the dialogue Hemant Tomochha Kulung, Lokendra Jerung, Guru Sangyam Karmarong, Manish Lohorung, Tej Nachhiring and Hom Yamphu were present as the representative of the unscheduled IPs and Jitpal Kirant, Lokendra Bahadur Thapa, Durgamani Yakkha, Arjun limbu and Ram Maden were present from NFDIN.
